Canoeing is a great fun if you follow our tips for safe and enjoyable canoeing on the river.

The Argens, the name of this river, is a coastal river. Furthermore, from Correns to the sea, it is classified NATURA 2000 area, so this means protected fauna and flora. Therefore, you are strongly adviced to bring all your trash and cigaret butts out with you and discard them in appropriate trash containers. The Argens river does not belong to the public domain, as the majority of rivers in France. So, it is legal for some owner to forbid you to ashore on their private properties. Most water reservoirs (dams) are used or have been used for water catchment , irrigation canals or mill operations. The Argens plays a major role for agriculture especially in the lower part of its valley.Safety guidelines to paddle along a fast line /rapids .Always keep distances between 2 canoes when approaching a challenge. When approaching a fast line, it is recommended, you gently strike your paddle upstream. This reverse stroke allows to visualize the navigation corridor and its deepest areas. If not possible, ashore upstream. Once you’ve spotted in, you go up the river slightly to gain momentum, enough to go as fast as the current and position yourself in the right place. If you find it difficult, disembark and walk.3. For safety reasons, wait until the canoe ahead of you is out of the rapids before joining the water line.

5 KM , details of the route

As soon as you board, you will find a succession of fast lines, a large meander with islets (it is forbidden to ashore on the islets), you reach  the rapids of Moutas, a succession of three thresholds.

Keep on your  right for the first one. Be ware of frequent capsizing. THEN KEEP YOUR DISTANCE BETWEEN 2 CANOES to avoid an accident.Watch out for  your GLASSES.

AFTER the Moutas, many thresholds and chicanes  with flat parts. Under the stone bridge ( The Argens bridge), run your canoe along  the gully under the RIGHT ARCH. From this point, 15 minutes are left to reach the TERMINUS .

A WHITE SIGN "FADONS", DO NOT GO FURTHER!!!! Thank you to carry your canoe up to the exit spot, if you are able to do so.
